Last two days i have been roaming the city of BangKoK. A very nice way to spend my days here. Lots to see, lots of ways to travel, but by boat, along the river is my favorite way.
Due to some mis planning i have to spend another week here, before i can go to Kalasin, but i like it here and things go well, so.... no problem there.
Also met Kevin. Great bloke from the UK (London) who is working and traveling at the same time. (He sends his work over the internet: what a way to live!!) Unfortunately he's gone to one of the islands now, but we had a great meet and greet evening (head still hurts, Lol).
Went to the national museum as well: big, very big and so it took me almost all day to see everything, but it was worth it.
Well... that's it for now.
Laterzzzz,
Jan.

And now for something completely different...
Back in BKK and all is going well (KNOCK ON WOOD!!!). Had a good trip to BKK, despite a lot of delay. Met Russian Tatjana (for the dutch: no, not that one) on the plane. She's here for a couple of months too, so... we shared a cap and found ourselves a nice room in a cheap hotel (two single rooms, don't get me wrong!!).
The feel of the second start is a lot better than the first. Coughing is still improving (= getting less), which is a big relief, but jetlag stroke hard: fell asleep at 7 am until noon despite 2 big changs (= 6.4% beer in bottles of 64 cl, usually enough to get an elephant drunk), but since the feeling was good i couldn't be bothered.
Also thanks to my cousin Janny, who recommended this book by Hermann Hesse (Siddhartha). It's an eyeopener indeed and it fits so well into my life at this very moment (Herman Hesse's books always go well with my traveling). I read it slowly and secure, since every sentence has so much to say... This book is another aspect of the good feeling i have now.
Today i made a long, long walk to the nearest subway station. On the map it was only 2 cm's, so i figured i could do that on flip flops. That seemed to be true, but not without getting extremely tired. One way to handle the jet lag... See how well i sleep tonight. Well, that's it for today. Dinner and a large beer are waiting for me, so.. see you all later.

Having hope again...
Photo's of my respiratory were ok. No scary stuff. A relief, i must admit. Extra medicines to stop the "coughing cycle". I still hope for the best..

Still in Holland
And still trying to find out why i cough so hard. Summarized: it's not going well and i am getting fed up with this situation. Starting to get worried since i have no idea what's going on in my respiratory. Photo's have been taken. Tomorrow to be discussed with my doctor...

hmm, still not recovered... bummer
As the title says: still not recovered enough to go back to Asia. Bummer!! Tomorrow to the doctor again and see what else we can do. A big sorry to all my friends in Asia. Beginning to feel a little depressed about it....

Slowly getting better
The antibiotics are doing their work. Coughing is getting lesser and lesser and hopefully by the end of this week i can fly back to Asia and continue my trip.
Thank you all so much for your support and well wishing. It really makes me feel good. Over here I'm getting pretty bored. Although i was invited very friendly by my neighbor to stay, there are not many things i can do. So... hopefully the recovery is complete by the end of this week. I will let you all know.

Finally, good news
Back in Holland. Went to the doctor this morning: infection of my respiratory, which can be cured (probably) with antibiotics. If all works out I can fly back around Wednesday!! Spread the word. I'm very happy.
I also must say a big thank you to Gerard (& gf), who lets me stay in his place for the time being. Thanks dude!!
Later more, Jan.

About to leave for Holland
And there i want to have a medical checkup. Hopefully i can go back to BKK afterwards and continue this trip. Thank you all for your compassion and sympathy.
I spend almost all day arranging the extra trip, but thanks to some really nice people of budgetair everything seems to work out nicely now (knock on wood). So i'll let you all know how it ends, or better: how it goes on.

Serious health problems
Bad news. Very bad actually. My coughing is getting worse and worse. I have coughed blood too now. Went to a doctor who advised me to go home a.s.a.p. and have myself checked up. And so i will, so... this trip comes to a sudden very quick end and it is to be seen if it is picked up afterwards.
Johannes, wil jij Petra en Benjamin van dit slechte nieuwe op de hoogte brengen? Kars(of een ander familielid) vertel het mam ajb.
I will let you all know when im home and how it all ends.
Sorry.

Not a good start.. not at all.
Hello everybody.
Well, here in Bangkok (BKK) i undergo a rough start of my journey. No energy due to lack of sleep and unable to sleep due to a giant jet lag. Changing temperatures and going in- and out of air conditioned rooms has worsened my cough (which had already started in Holland).
Anyway, what happened: On Sunday my bro (Kars, thanks dude) brought me to the railway station to catch the train to Frankfurt. No prob so far. From there i took a flight to Cairo (with a lot of delay). After a long wait in Cairo (more delay, it seems characteristic for Egypt Air) the long flight to BKK. On this trip my cough started and i guess i have annoyed lots of other passengers by coughing all night long.
Finally arriving here, picking up luggage, Sukit (Pareena's brother) picked me up. Nice gesture, highly appreciated. Downtown to the Koh San area, checking in a nice room and start the acclimatisation process: see paragraph above. So, a bad night, with again no sleep until 5 am. Still, im glad im here.
Today: breakfast, catching up some sleep during the day, getting medicine against my cough (will check a doctor tomorrow, to find out if it is (swine)flew), although: no fever) and strolling through town. Afternoon now. Tomorrow im going to visit the school of Sukit (i was also there in 2002). More in a couple of days.
